What’s about India? I don’t know what all to say. We have
many things to say about India. We had some brave fighters for justice and
self-respect. And, we have cowards who doesn’t care for anyone other than their
family.
Speaking of bravery and self-respect, I saw a movie yesterday
called “Battle of Algeirs”. It’s about how Algerians fought for their freedom
from French. It narrates how they sacrificed their lives fighting for their
country. After seeing the movie, only one thought came to mind. “How could they
do that?” “How could they sacrifice their life for their country?” “How could
every single person in a country was ready to die for their country?” I
couldn’t imagine it maybe because I was not under that situation. But, I tried
to put myself under that situation and thought what I would do. To be honest I
couldn’t bare myself dying for some useless people so that they can rule my
country and enjoy themselves. State of my (maybe most of today’s youth) mind
was like ‘Why should I sacrifice my pizzas, my trekking and my selfies for some
person’s son or daughter to enjoy the same?” I think you can understand whom I
am talking about.
And now comes a question, ‘Why don’t
you join politics then?’ Yeah, I want to. But, what if I die because of that.
Will you guys will do an uprising and take over the country from these rulers.
Absolutely no. At the most, I may get a candlelight vigil. And it’s all back to
pizzas and selfies. I am not saying you shouldn’t eat or take selfies. I
loveeeee food and selfies. I would say the reason is we don’t want to lose the
enjoyment we have right now. We don’t want to lose our pizzas or Briyani and go
to some rural place eating some ordinary food on a roadside shop. We don’t want
to miss our securitized adventures and take up an adventure that will cost your
life.
There couldn’t be any solution for
this because everyone including me likes to blame and just sit. But wait a
minute. Everyone’s not like us. There are some persons who really do care even
today. Stumbled upon some articles yesterday while browsing for present day
bravers. Some examples of present day fighters are V Balasubramaniam and S
Bhuvaneswaran who were all RTI activists. And believe me there are many more.
Balasubramaniam was killed for seeking information about alleged irregularities
in several handloom weavers' cooperative societies in Kancheepuram district (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/chennai/RTI-activist-found-dead-on-road/articleshow/6346865.cms).
Bhuvaneswaran was killed for seeking information about land grabbing activities
by land mafia in Avadi (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/RTI-activist-murdered-in-Kolathur-by-land-mafia/articleshow/11443449.cms).
When I read all these, I just thought why these guys have to
seek information which would kill their lives. Can’t they seek information on
some delay in getting their own passport or his wife’s passport? I seriously
couldn’t understand. What is in it for him? Is he going to get a medal by so
called politicians in Republic Day Function? Is he going to get money from the
people who are benefited by the info and become a rich guy and own a cruise boat
in Goa? I couldn’t figure it. And also I still couldn’t figure why Bhagat Singh
had to sacrifice his life for us. Why couldn’t he have just sat around and
watched like other people?
Some may say
Patriotism and some may say Love for people. Yeah maybe. Or could be any other
reason too. But why? What Bhuvaneswaran or Balasubramaniam or Bhagat got from
their sacrifices? At least Bhagat Singh got to become my WhatsApp DP for one
whole day. No, not a whole day. I had to change it in half a day with my selfie
at Dindugal Thalapakkatti. Whatever. But, what these two present day fighters
got? I don’t even have their picture though. So, I think they didn’t get
anything from me or you too.
But, what they would have got from
their sacrifices? What they would have thought at their dying moment? Would
they have begged their assailants for Mercy or accepted death with dignity and
courage? Or would they have told to their assailants like ‘Why do you want to
kill me guys? I am fighting for people like you guys only. Please understand’.
Who knows. And one more tragedy here is Bhuvaneswaran was killed before his
four year old daughter. Wouldn’t he felt sad for leaving her daughter’s future
in dark? And this guy Balasubramanian, he is 68 years old. Why in the hell he
has to fight when he can just sit easy daisy and read some stupid news on so
called No.1 Newspapers.
No answers. I don’t have any
answers.
#NightmareAlertBelow
We can find the answer maybe if we have a chance to fight for
our country and our people and die in the process. Maybe we could understand that
Bhagat did it for us so that his fellow citizens and his Motherland to be
reprieved of foreigners and breathe Freedom. Maybe Balasubramaniam thought his
people are far more important compared to his leisure activities. Maybe
Bhuvaneswaran thought someday we all would rise and as a result his daughter
might live in a country which he longed for.
But I think, their souls will never worry for the decisions
they made. Even after they get to know whatever they did are useless. (NOTE: In
this case, Bhagat is so miserable that he has to endure this fact for a long long
time dating back to Independence Era) They did what they wanted to do for their
country and I think they will do it again if there is after life and there is a country
called India in that after life.
All said, I don’t know whether I or you reading this article
have the guts to be one of them or even try to be. Thinking of saying many more
things. Before that one question keeps on bugging me all the way through this
writing process. ‘What in the world did you do?’ My answer is nothing. And,
‘What are you going to do?’ I seriously don’t know what my answer would be.
It’s because I have a Cheese Sandwich waiting for me. And I prefer it more
right now than this. Bye
And yeah, I forgot to ask ‘What are you going to do? Are we
in the same league?’
Thought provoking!! And as said this era seeks self-satisfaction and happiness(like ur cheese sandwich) for its own deeds rather self sacrifice for the country. May be bhagat Singh has loved his country more than himself. It's all about individualistic personality.
ReplyDeleteYeah..well said..it's all about individualistic personality..having said that now I started to think "Will we ever have a Bhagat Singh again?"
